SleepScape v0.1.0
SleepScape is an interactive modelling tool for exploring why animals sleep when they do, how sleep becomes fragmented, and how ecological conditions may shift sleep timing. The app represents sleep as the outcome of competing time-varying pressures, including maintenance needs, performance benefits, and the ecological opportunity costs of being asleep. Users can explore parameter sets for exemplar species, modify ecological or physiological conditions, and compare resulting sleep patterns across scenarios.
If you scroll down, you can modify any of the model input parameters to try recreating the physiological and ecological constraints of your favourite species to predict their sleep patterns!
Note!: Any simulations with very short time steps may take a little while to display (e.g. if you are trying to resolve microsleeps, like with the chinstrap penguin preset).
If you notice any bugs in the interface or unusual model behaviour, please take a second to log the bug here so we can work on a fix for future updates!
